About The
Birth Collaborative

The Birth Collaborative is a training hub and movement space led by Jollina Walker that’s reimagining how we support birth in Nevada. Our doula certification programs combine hands-on training, policy fluency, and cultural humility to develop doulas who are both skilled practitioners and fierce advocates.

We don’t just teach birthwork—we teach how to build systems of care that actually work for families of color, low-income communities, and those historically excluded from quality maternal health services. We believe doulas aren’t a luxury—they are essential.

Grounded in a Birth Justice framework and guided by Reproductive Justice values, our work is always community-based, community-centered, and community-driven.

Meet Jollina Walker

Doula. Educator. Advocate. Mother.

Jollina Walker is a nationally recognized leader in perinatal health, known for transforming how birthwork shows up in communities—especially for families too often left behind.

With over 17 years of experience supporting families in Las Vegas, Jollina brings unmatched depth as a birth doula, lactation consultant (IBCLC), childbirth educator, and maternal-child health strategist. Her work bridges ancient wisdom and modern science, delivering culturally grounded, clinically informed care that meets people where they are.

From training new doulas to shaping statewide Medicaid policy, Jollina is building a future where every birthing person has access to informed, respectful, and community-rooted support.

Focused. Integrated. Accessible.

Birthing people in Clark County have access to a wide range of birth settings and providers—home births, birth centers, hospitals; OBs, Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs), Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs), and Community Midwives. Many doulas, lactation specialists, and allied health professionals work hard to serve our communities.

But what’s been missing is this: Care led by Black and Brown providers, serving Black and Brown families.

As Black Doulas, we believe deeply in the wisdom of the birthing body. We center the natural birth process, offering care that nourishes, educates, and protects our clients—because we know firsthand what it means to birth in Black bodies within systems that too often fail both patients and providers.

We needed something better.
Better for Black mamas.
Better for birthing people.
Better for families and futures.
Better for our community.

That’s why we built The Birth Collaborative —to create the care we deserve, from people who understand us, for people who need us.

The Impact of Community Doulas

Empowering families and transforming health care, our approach has led to a 39% reduction in the likelihood of cesarean births and a 15% greater likelihood of spontaneous vaginal births.

Additionally, community doulas can help shorten labor by an average of 41 minutes and achieved a 31% reduction in negative birth experiences.

Our trainings engage the Birth Justice Framework with Reproductive Justice Priorities, and are always always community-based, community centered, and community focused.

We are committed to providing culturally-appropriate, person-centered care that challenges systems of oppression, such as racism and sexism in reproductive care. Our approach ensures birthing people are treated with gentleness, true care, and concern, empowering them to advocate for themselves and make the best health decisions for their families during all stages of pregnancy, birth, and the post-birth period. This holistic support helps to create an environment where families can thrive and reinforces the importance of knowledge-sharing within communities, as well as improving access to traditional birth-workers like midwives and doulas.
